Why an application photo upload may be rejected
An upload error can result from the file, the application session or a requirement that is different from the one you used. A message such as โinvalid imageโ does not establish which cause applies. Start with the exact error and the current official instructions rather than repeatedly compressing the picture.
This guide is a practical checklist, not a prediction of the portal's internal checks. The recruitment authority controls the requirements and can help when the error remains unclear.
1. Check whether the application requires live capture
First check the instructions for the specific recruitment and cycle. Some applications require a photograph captured live inside the official portal rather than a saved upload; others ask for both. A file prepared here cannot replace required live capture.
If the live camera does not work, check that you are on the official site, allow camera access if appropriate, close conflicting camera applications and follow the official help instructions. Do not substitute a photograph shown on another screen or a printed image.
2. Check the actual file format
Confirm which formats the notice accepts. JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC are different formats even if they all display as photographs on your phone. Changing the name of a file from .png to .jpg does not convert its contents. Use a proper conversion tool and download the new output.
The file extension should match the file's actual format. A portal may reject an unsupported or incorrectly named file. If the application specifies a particular file name, follow that instruction without changing the extension to a format you did not actually export.
3. Check file size and dimensions separately
Find the downloaded file's size and compare it with both the minimum and maximum stated in the notice. A maximum of 50 KB and a minimum of 20 KB form a range, not a target of zero. Keep enough detail to see the photograph or writing clearly.
Next compare the actual pixel width and height. Width comes first: 200 ร 230 is portrait, while 230 ร 200 is landscape. A correct byte size does not imply correct pixels, and the correct pixels do not imply a correct byte size. Check both against the instructions for that field.
For a preset on this site, the result card shows the actual dimensions. The tool tries to preserve the specified canvas when compressing. If the chosen byte cap cannot be achieved at those dimensions, it warns that the result is over target rather than reducing the dimensions without telling you.
4. Open and inspect the downloaded image
A file can meet every numeric limit and still be unsuitable. Compare the face, pose, expression, background and image quality against the notice. Look for a rotated image, a cropped head, shadows or blurred facial details. Our presets do not measure faces or verify that these conditions are met.
For a signature, check that the entire writing is visible, upright and legible. A signature preset fits the source into the canvas with white padding, but it cannot recover an edge missing from your original photograph or scan. If the writing is unclear at source, make a new capture.
5. Confirm the correct field and file
A form may have separate fields for photograph, signature, declaration and other documents. They can use different rules. Select the right field and choose the new download, not an older file with a similar name. Open it once before selection to be sure.
Some devices store downloads in a separate folder, and a browser may show a previous selection until you choose a new file. Keep filenames clear, but do not include personal identity numbers in names that might be shared accidentally.
6. Rule out a session or browser problem
If the file appears to satisfy the notice, check whether the application session has expired or the connection was interrupted. Follow any instructions shown by the portal. A supported browser or device, updated permissions and a fresh login may help; save any application information safely before reloading.
Do not disable important security settings or share your account password while troubleshooting. If the issue continues, note the exact error, application stage, browser and approximate time, and contact the official support channel. Share documents only through approved channels and only when necessary.
Keep useful evidence and protect originals
Keep the original file and the final submitted output in a private folder. If you need to try again, start from the original rather than repeatedly compressing the last compressed copy, which can degrade quality. Check whether the notice requires a copy to be brought to a later stage.
The site processes selected files in your browser; loading the page or processing code can require a connection. Uploading the finished file to an official application is a separate action and sends that selected output to the application provider.
Frequently asked questions
Does renaming a PNG to .jpg convert it?
No. The extension changes, but the underlying data remains PNG. Convert it to JPEG using a proper image tool.
Why does the same file work for one exam and not another?
Different applications can require different formats, dimensions, size ranges or live capture. Check the notice for each one.
Can a file be rejected even when its size is correct?
Yes. Dimensions, format, field selection, appearance, session state or other application rules can also matter.
Can I use this resizer for a required live photo?
No. Complete live capture within the official application when required.
The file tools linked in this guide process selected files in your browser. No account or installation is required; a connection may be needed to load the page and processing code.
