Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
CompressInKB (“we”, “us”) operates this website, a collection of file-conversion, image-resizing and calculation tools that run entirely in the visitor's browser. You can contact us by email or through the contact page.
Cloudflare serves the website and may process ordinary connection information such as IP address, browser details and requested pages for delivery and security. If advertising is enabled in the future, Google and its partners may process identifiers and cookie data as described below. Neither service is intended to receive the contents of files you process in the tools.
2. How your files are processed
Files you select are read into your browser's memory using the standard File and Blob APIs. Conversion and compression are performed locally by WebAssembly codecs (MozJPEG, libwebp, OxiPNG, libavif and, only when a HEIC file is opened, libheif) or by JavaScript libraries (pdf-lib, pdf.js) executing on your own device. The result is offered to you as a download.
At no point is file content sent to a server operated by us or by any third party. This is an architectural property of the application rather than a policy promise: there is no upload endpoint in the code to send your file to. Closing or reloading the page removes the files from memory.
The only exceptions are entirely under your control: if you choose to Google-translate the page, use your browser's built-in “upload this file” extension, or share a result through a third-party app, that action is between you and that third party.
3. What we store in your browser
We use your browser's local storage for a small number of strictly functional preferences:
- Theme preference — whether you chose light or dark mode, so the site does not flash white on your next visit.
- Cookie and consent choices — the choices you make in the consent banner, including the date and version of the policy they relate to, so we can prove what you agreed to.
- Operator settings — if you use the hidden admin panel, your site configuration is stored in your own browser. It is not shared with anyone.
This data never leaves your device and is not visible to us. Clearing your browser data, or using a private window, removes all of it.
4. Advertising and cookies (Google AdSense)
This site may display advertising served by Google AdSense and its partners. Advertising is disabled until you grant consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time using the controls described in our Cookie Policy.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Users may opt out of the use of advertising cookies for interest-based advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices and, for European visitors, at youronlinechoices.com. Google's own practices are described in the Google privacy and terms page for partner sites.
5. Analytics
If analytics are enabled, they are used only in aggregate: page views and referrers, to understand which tools are worth improving. We do not transmit file names, file contents, or the values you enter into calculators, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors. Analytics are disabled if you reject them in the consent banner.
6. Legal bases and your rights
Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis depends on the activity: legitimate interests may apply to website security and responding to enquiries, while consent applies to optional advertising and analytics where required. Files processed in your browser are not retained by us. For requests concerning an email you sent us or other personal data handled by service providers, please contact us.
Where India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 applies, you are the Data Principal. Information you provide voluntarily by email is used to answer your request. Hosting and, if enabled, advertising providers may process the connection and advertising data described in this policy.
California residents can contact us with privacy requests. Advertising is off unless enabled and permitted by your choices; advertising partners may process identifiers when ads are active. For your controls, see our Cookie Policy.
Children's privacy: this site is not directed at children under 13 and we knowingly collect no data from them.
7. Data retention
We retain no file data at all — there is nothing to retain. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to resolve your query, and are then deleted on request at any time by using the email link above.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS with a strict Content Security Policy, Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy and Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy headers, and no third-party scripts beyond the advertising code described above. Because files are processed locally, the usual risk associated with uploading documents to an online tool — interception, server-side retention, breach of a file store — does not arise here.
9. What this policy cannot control
Your browser, operating system, extensions and network provider can observe ordinary connection metadata such as the page address and the time of the request, even though they do not receive the files you process. A compromised device or a malicious browser extension is outside the protection any website can offer. Keep your browser updated, remove extensions you do not recognise, and avoid processing identity documents on shared computers where possible.
10. Questions and grievances
For a privacy question, correction request or grievance, contact us by email. Please do not email identity documents unless we specifically ask for a redacted example to diagnose a problem. We aim to acknowledge privacy correspondence within three working days.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of the page and, where the change affects the choices you have already made, ask for consent again through the banner.
