GATE Photo Resizer — 413 × 531 px starting preset

GATE 2026 published a photo range of 200 × 260 to 530 × 690 pixels and 5–600 KB. This preset uses a portrait canvas within that range; verify the current year’s official instructions.

Important: this is an independent working preset, not an official tool or a guarantee of acceptance. Verify the current IISc / IIT (GATE Organising Institute) notification and portal requirements before submitting. If the application requires a live photo, capture it inside the official portal; a resized image cannot replace that step.

How to do this, step by step

  1. 1Read the current official notice first. Confirm whether the form accepts an existing photograph or requires live capture.
  2. 2Take a clear photograph with suitable lighting and the background required by your application. Check the framing and other visual rules in the official instructions.
  3. 3Choose the image on your device. The application processes the selected file locally; it does not upload that file for processing.
  4. 4Run the preset. It centre-crops the source to 413 × 531 and searches for a file within the selected size range. Centre-cropping can remove parts of the original.
  5. 5Inspect the result card for the actual dimensions and size, and open the downloaded file to check legibility and framing. If the target cannot be met at the required dimensions, the result is flagged instead of silently shrinking it.
  6. 6Compare the finished file with the official instructions, including any DPI, name, date, face-coverage or signature rules. The tool cannot verify those visual or portal-specific requirements for you.

Before you submit

Check that the correct field accepts an existing file and that the file is clear. This resizer does not detect faces, validate signatures, measure head size, replace the background in an opaque photograph, or complete an official live-photo step.

A white background is added only behind transparent areas or padding. The original background is not removed. The exported image may not retain physical DPI metadata, so check any DPI requirement separately.

Some JPEG and PNG results use inert padding to meet a requested minimum size. A portal may inspect or strip metadata differently, so a successful resize is not proof of acceptance. Keep your original and review the downloaded result.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the official IISc / IIT (GATE Organising Institute) tool?

No. CompressInKB is independent. Use the official link above and the notification for your application to confirm all requirements.

Can this replace a live photo?

No. When a portal requires live capture, follow its camera instructions directly in that portal. Do not substitute an existing picture for a live capture.

What if the output is outside the requested file-size range?

The result card flags a missed target. Check the official limit, use a clearer source or another permitted size, and verify the final file. Exact pixel dimensions are preserved rather than silently reduced.

Does the tool remove my photo background or check my face?

No. It can add white behind transparent areas or around a fitted image, but it does not remove an opaque background, detect a face or check eligibility.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Selected files are processed in your browser. The site may download processing code or codecs on first use, but those requests do not contain the selected file.
