How to do this, step by step

  1. 1Read the issuing authority’s current instructions for your exact passport, visa or online application. Note the accepted dimensions, file size and visual rules.
  2. 2Take or obtain a suitable clear photograph against the required background. Check the official rules on face visibility, lighting and recency.
  3. 3Select the image on your device and run the preset. The tool centre-crops to the preset pixel canvas and searches for a result within the preset file-size range.
  4. 4Inspect the downloaded image for framing and legibility; centre-cropping may cut off important areas. Check its actual pixel dimensions and byte size.
  5. 5If the application requires a printed photograph, print at the exact physical size required and measure it with a ruler. Pixel dimensions alone do not guarantee print size or DPI metadata.
  6. 6Check head size, expression, background and all other official requirements separately. Use a professional photo service if you cannot verify them yourself.

What the resizer can and cannot check

The resizer changes image dimensions and searches for a byte target. It does not detect a face, measure head-to-frame proportions, verify a neutral expression, remove a coloured background or check whether a particular authority will accept the result.

White is placed behind transparent areas; an opaque background is not replaced. The preset also does not set a guaranteed physical print size. Measure a printed copy and verify the current authority’s guidance.

A result may fall outside the requested size if the target cannot be reached while preserving the pixel dimensions. The result card reports the actual output instead of silently reducing the canvas.

Frequently asked questions

Does this make an officially compliant photo?

It is a resizing aid, not an official compliance check. Compare the finished file or print against every requirement from the issuing authority.

Does the tool measure my head or remove the background?

No. It does not detect a face, measure head height or remove an opaque background. Check those requirements separately.

Are passport and visa photo requirements always the same?

No. Requirements can differ by application and change over time. Check the specific authority and application instructions.

How can I ensure the printed size is correct?

Print according to the official physical dimensions and measure the finished photo. Image pixels and metadata alone do not guarantee the print dimensions.

Is my photograph uploaded for processing?

No. The selected file is processed in your browser. Page assets or codecs may need to be downloaded on first use, but those requests do not carry your selected photograph.
